Otoendoscope

Our video Karl Storz otoendoscope is ideal for visualization, biopsy, foreign body retrieval, irrigation and suction of chronic ear problems.  Ear problems are very common amongst dogs and cats.  There are many indications of an ear problem including building ear wax, hematoma, otorrhea, otitis media, and ear mites.

A buildup of ear wax is the start of a potential ear infection.  Cleaning the ear by loosening wax without damaging the sensitive tissue of the middle ear will save your pet possible ear problems.  A hematoma is a swelling that contains blood, normally on the ear due to shaking of the pet's head and/or scratching the ear.  Otorrea (otitis) is an inflammation of the skin of the external ear canal caused by infection or parasites.  A sign of otorrea is if your pet’s skin bleeds when scratched.  Otitis Media is a middle ear inflammation that is brought on from an infection of the external ear passage.  Otitis Media can result from a nasal passage infection that has spread to the ear.  Your pet’s ear will be sensitive and hot to the touch and needs immediate veterinary attention.  Ear mites (ododectes) are parasites that infest a dog’s ear and can be contracted through other animals that are infected.  Your pet will have a dark, waxy secretion from the ear along with a sour odor.  Veterinary care is the only solution to ear mites.

With the help of the otoendoscope, a pet's ear infection can be visually diagnosed accurately.  If you feel your pet has an ear infection, contact us as soon as possible.  An Auriflush is a unique flushing system recently introduced to the market that flushes and vacuums out debris from the eardrum.
